Role Summary

Cigna Investment Management (CIM) has overall responsibility for the over $30 billion investment portfolio for Cigna, a leading global health and group insurance provider and Fortune 500 company. Its assets are invested in public and private bonds, commercial mortgages, private corporate mezzanine debt and equity, and real estate equity. Cigna Realty Investors (CRI) is responsible for the real estate investment portfolio of over $4 billion.

The position as Head of Investment Originations, reporting to the Head of CRI, manages all activities of the Originations group which include the acquisition or development of commercial and multifamily investments, the structuring of joint ventures, and the origination of new commercial mortgage investments. The company targets first mortgages of $15-50 million and expects to invest $600 million - $1.0 billion annually. Further, the company expects to acquire or develop assets totaling approximately $350 - $500 million in total capitalization annually.

The individual develops and maintains relationships with key Partners, Borrowers, and Intermediaries, and leads strategy and tactic development and implementation. They have overall responsibility to hire, manage and develop staff. As a member of the Senior Management Team of CRI, they will play a key role in enterprise management, and will sit on the Real Estate Investment Committee.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for, and oversees, the origination, structuring, and closing of real estate debt and equity transactions on a national basis to meet client investment objectives

  • Leads development and implementation of Equity and Debt investment strategies and tactics

· Develops and maintains relationships with key Partners, Borrowers, and Intermediaries

· Demonstrates broad knowledge across capital markets, real estate industry, target markets, and CRI investment strategies.

  • Oversees the management, development, engagement and evaluation of all team members. Directly manages three Team Leaders. Actively participates in human resource discussions across CRI.

  • As member of the Real Estate Investment Committee, actively participates in high level strategy and tactic discussions and decision making for all proposed real estate investment transactions

  • Actively participates in the development and implementation of enterprise policies and procedures that improve organizational effectiveness

· Responsible for the integration of key internal and external business partners into the investment process (Legal, Portfolio, Accounting, Treasury, Operations)

· Contributes to the preparation of financial forecasts and quarterly reporting packages to meet all reporting requirements
