The Cigna Group Program Manager in Greenock, United Kingdom

Will operate as a cross-functional manager responsible for driving the coordination and governance of products/assets in the clinical strategy and execution. A key member of the Chief Medical Officer’s leadership team, the Strategy and Business Project Manager will report directly to the Chief Medical Officer (CMO).

Responsible for organizing and governing the team’s clinical and business strategies and initiatives and is recognized internally as the “go-to person” for coordination across all markets, CEOs and supporting matrixed teams. Supports the direction, development, and execution of strategy, partnering with various functions across the enterprise to drive strategic planning, process, management, and business communications.

This role will work cross-functionally with other teams to coordinate and support the success of the portfolio of programs. The role will provide post-delivery support in monitoring and reporting on performance and quality of programs, including identifying and capturing program efficiencies.

The position will be responsible for aligning with the portfolio and IT organizations for clinical Epic development/delivery. The role will be liaison across clinical Epics, and will manage some of the large, complex and highly visible Epics/ projects/ programs that cross matrix with business units, D&A and IT areas using predominantly Agile methodologies.

Core Responsibilities :

  • Lead overall clinical portfolio schedule and progress (scope, milestones, interdependencies, status, budget, resources, issues, and risks) and partner with market business lead on issues and appropriate mitigation plans.

  • Lead communication and change efforts across all project teams. Institute continuous feedback loop with teams.

  • Provide single point of “truth” for overall status reporting around schedule, scope, budget, issues and risks for Leadership, Advisory & Exec. Steering Team

  • Proactively identify and escalate portfolio issues & risks and facilitate development of appropriate mitigation plans.

  • Provide information and analysis to drive the decision-making process and support business operations for internal and external customers.

  • Coordinate and partner with the business to design new and improved business processes aligned to future strategies. Drive to consider all possibilities and moves beyond current thought processes.

  • Assess impacts and provide solutions or direction on strategic and baseline opportunities using a cost, efficiency, effectiveness/value, contractual, legal and compliance perspective. This includes the compilation, analysis, and identification of opportunities.

  • Provides risk assessment and mitigation for escalation and decision making.

  • Identify and work to remove barriers that slow or prevent the successful attainment of quality and delivery goals.

  • Leads project/program governance to ensure aligned delivery.

  • Success will be achieved through strong, proactive partnerships with areas such as Finance, Operations, Sales, Technology, D&A and vendor partners.

  • Effectively use appropriate tools to transform project and program tracking.

  • Analyze data to clearly outline findings, derive accurate results and meaningful insights.

  • Take logical steps/initiatives to make any improvement on assigned tasks.

  • Support business case development in coordination with matrix partners.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders and manages their expectations regarding timing and delivery.

  • Proactively resolve upstream dependencies and resolve conflict effectively across teams.

  • Track performance indicators and KPIs.

  • Coordinate across markets to support change management for internal and external use.

  • Perform strategic planning and monitoring of the competitive landscape and of industry trends to identify areas of opportunity.

Minimum Experience requirement:

  • 5+ years of project management experience or equivalent, using tools and frameworks to execute projects

  • 5+ years of experience in managed care and/or relevant healthcare experience preferred

  • International Health experience preferred

  • Critical thinker with pragmatic approach to problem solving

  • Ability to quickly build relationships and influence across the organization

  • Proven ability to function in a heavily matrixed environment

  • Strong communication & information sharing skills (oral and written).

  • Excellent presentation skills that encompass clear, compelling communications

  • Strong detail orientation, change management, and coaching skills

  • Proven experience working with senior leaders, facilitating discussions, speaking with courage, and driving action.

  • Ability to work effectively in entrepreneurial, fast-paced, team-oriented environment

  • Must balance high-priority, long-term projects with short-term, immediate deadlines

  • Familiarity with automated processes and computer applications and systems also required

  • Ability to foster collaboration, value others perspectives and gain support and buy-in for organizational proposals.

  • Strong business acumen, with proven ability to acquire knowledge in new business areas and new types of projects.
