Cigna Health and Benefits Consultant - Over 500 US Markets in Greenwood Village, Colorado


As part of Cigna's Risk Management and Underwriting (RMUW) organization, the Client Informatics organization is committed to providing employer clients with reporting, analytics, and consultation that is relevant and actionable. The Client Informatics organization supports Cigna's strategy by utilizing insights that enable employers to make strategic decisions regarding our products and services. Our ability to Go Deep in product offerings to our clients will be critical to the achievement of our enterprise growth goals. Supporting this strategy is our Over 500 US Markets Client Consulting & Analytics Team; whose mission is to demonstrate Cigna's value proposition through expert consultation with our clients.

As Informatics Senior Specialist, you will be responsible for advising the strategic direction of a 40 account book of Over 500 US Market clients through the use of analytical tools to create insights-driven recommendations. In this role you will be responsible for designing and managing studies as requested by internal and external clients for purposes of improving health, and analyzing business opportunities and areas for improvement. You will have a significant role in the quality and integrity of data collected, analysis performed, and reports generated. This highly visible role will be responsible for maintaining client relationships and ensuring Client Informatics is delivering the value demanded by our most visible clients.

Highly detailed analysis of client data

Prepare client specific cost, trend and utilization analysis on an approximately 40 account book of business.

Conduct ad hoc analyses by synthesizing large volumes of data into meaningful conclusions that help the client make informed decisions

Evaluate client specific (when available) return of Cigna's clinical and health engagement tools and programs.

Identify and quantify benefit program opportunities that enhance Cigna's relationship with each client.

Analyze network opportunity through Client specific networks assessments

Drive product and service solutions

Deliver client-specific information to drive/validate overall engagement strategy.

Demonstrating product opportunity during client result presentations

Establishing direct client relationships on key accounts with client influencers/buyers.

Identify emerging risks and opportunities to distribution leadership.

Communication to key partners

Present results and recommendations to clients.

Act as an internal analytical consultant for external requests (consultant, client, account team).

Establish partnership with sales executives in defining client engagement strategy, as well as health promotion mangers and onsite clinic medical staff.

Contribute to a learning culture

Identify opportunities to enhance analytic tools and develop new forecasting tools.

Manage and deliver project work associated with Cigna product initiatives that require informatics build and support

Drive the continual development of Best Practice medical cost analytics and forecasting tools.

Ability to communicate and collaborate

Communicate analytical findings/gaps/solutions to senior management at client organizations.

Prepare account team for client interactions by ensuring a clear understanding of informatics capabilities.

Lead client discussions and effectively represent subject expertise

Strong analytical and technical skills

Manage the synthesis of large data-sets into meaningful information used to drive action.

Determine opportunities and identify solutions to increase analytical processing efficiency.

Proficient knowledge of data processing software (Access, Excel)

Understand detailed technical processes and create project specifications to support ongoing improvement of Cigna’s reporting and analytics capabilities.

Consultative and results driven

Educate account team so that they better understand medical cost drivers and manage client needs/demands.

Influence business partners in a way that drives profitable growth.

Demonstrate passion for and dedication to anticipating and meeting the expectations and requirements of clients.

Lead client discussions and effectively represent subject expertise


  • Bachelor's Degree highly desired, advanced degree (MBA, Masters, etc) strongly preferred
  • 5 years healthcare experience with demonstrated business results in an analytics and consulting capacity
  • Demonstrated ability creating and maintaining professional relationships
  • Demonstrated experience in creating and presenting promotional materials
  • Demonstrated experience in driving business results by providing business support that strengthens management’s ability to make good business decisions.
  • Effectively partner with and influence a cross-functional team
  • Demonstrated communication skills; excellent verbal, written and presentation skills will be leveraged daily in this role
