The Cigna Group Senior Software Development Engineer, Backend - Verity Solutions - Hybrid in Kirkland, Washington

The Senior Software Development Engineer position is a key contributor to Verity’s industry-leading 340B platform, and responsible for designing, developing and maintaining advanced transactional backend services operating on complex data models.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and implement reliable, scalable backend solutions to business requirements following established design patterns and developing new approaches as needed

  • Collaborate with Product Management in clarifying business and product requirements, and drive technical approaches to satisfying requirements

  • Help develop plans and estimates for deliverables

  • Communicate progress, issues and risks in a timely manner

  • Collaborate with development team members on design, task sharing and problem solving

  • Assist in the growth of junior developers

  • Prioritize quality and collaborate with the software testing team to ensure prospective functionality is mutually understood

  • Collaborate with DevOps team members to define effective system monitoring in computing environments and software deployment requirements

  • Actively contribute to improving software development processes (e.g. sprints, version control, code reviews, unit testing, build/release)

  • Lead on software engineering and security best practices

  • Be responsible for project success (technical and stakeholder satisfaction)

  • Protect the confidentiality of sensitive and/or proprietary company and customer information, including patient health data

  • Support and promote the Verity values through positive interactions with both internal and external stakeholders on a regular basis

JOB EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • BS or degree in related field or equivalent experience

  • A strong foundation in object-oriented design and languages; experience with Golang strongly preferred

  • 10+ years of experience building enterprise backends and service-oriented solutions supporting large-scale backend distributed systems and web-based applications

  • Track record of designing for high scale and fault tolerance

  • Highly proficient at working with complex data sets, ideally using NoSQL technologies like MongoDB

  • Proficient with current industry-leading development tools

  • Knowledge of cloud-centric design patterns

  • Expertise on AWS technologies desired

  • Propensity for curiosity and critical thinking with an interest in large-scale distributed services

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to be effective with minimal supervision

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members in a scrum-based environment

  • Capable of adapting to changing requirements and business processes

  • Experience developing applications for pharmacy or healthcare industries preferred

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.

For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary of 123,400 - 205,600 USD / yearly, depending on relevant factors, including experience and geographic location.

This role is also anticipated to be eligible to participate in an annual bonus plan.
