Cigna Pharmacy Benefit Sales Consultant – Cigna Pharmacy Management in Minnesota, Minnesota


Role Summary:

Pharmacy Benefit Management (PBM) sales position responsible for pharmacy sales goals for the assigned Midwest territory. This individual will target both new business and carve in pharmacy (current medical) prospective clients. Experience in the Pharmacy and/or Medical Benefit industry is required. Must be able to adapt sales strategy/approaches based on target client size.


  • Meet or exceed annual territory sales goal as measured by new contracted lives by working with the Cigna Healthcare sales channel partners
  • Meet or exceed monthly, quarterly, annual sales meeting requirements which will demonstrate strong execution of sales processes
  • Identify and develop an in-depth understanding of each sales prospect’s needs, goals, objectives, their buying and organizational influences and decision-making processes
  • Record and manage all sales activities in
  • Create and present territory specific internal strategy documents
  • Lead Pharmacy related internal and external sales meetings
  • Own the request-for-proposal (RFP) analysis and management to ensure best practices
  • Represent Cigna Pharmacy Management at finalist meetings and in the market
  • Remain current on PBM industry trends and competitive knowledge
  • Maintain positive working relationships with internal Cigna departments and their team members



  • Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent work experience, required. Advanced degree (MBA, PharmD) a plus
  • 2 years of experience in the Pharmacy and/or Medical Benefit industry required
  • Proven sales success through channel sales partners is a plus
  • Strong solutions selling or account management experience required
  • Strong proficiency using Microsoft applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint) required
  • Experience with using or other Sales Force Automation (SFA) applications preferred
  • Excellent presentation skills, with strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to define business requirements and communicate those requirements to other teams
  • Capable of handling multiple projects and assignments concurrently, to work independently and be proactive
  • Ability to work strategically with matrix partners to design account strategies and proposals
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time
