Senior Advisor - Employer Pricing Strategy – Health Plan Division

POSITION SUMMARY

The Express Scripts Health Plan Growth Team is dedicated to helping our Health Plan partners Win, Retain, and Grow pharmacy lives in their respective employer group markets. This is accomplished by being change agents within our partner organizations and eliminating hurdles to ensure our partners maximize the value of their PBM relationship, grow their businesses, and offer cutting edge pharmacy benefits to their sub client populations.

The Health Plan Growth Senior Advisor is a vital part of a team that is tasked with building all aspects of employer group pricing strategy and deployment for our Health Plan partners. The Senior Advisor will be a key leader on a team of pricing consultants and strategists serving as a PBM pricing expert for our health plan partners in all aspects of PBM strategy at a variety of organizational levels, including within the C-Suite. This role requires constant surveillance of pricing trends in the employer space, as well as the broader landscape including legislative actions, and new market entrants. The Senior Advisor will work closely with the Health Plan Division underwriting organization to build and oversee a pricing platform that administers employer group level pricing,

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

PBM Pricing Consultation

  • Serve as PBM Pricing and bid strategy expert for health plan partner clients, with a specific focus in the ASO Commercial space, interacting regularly with client executive leadership regularly, as well as all levels of our internal organization

  • Provide ongoing consultation to Health Plan partners, including, not limited to, the following areas:

  • New Business pricing strategy

  • Renewal business and existing client retention strategies

  • Competitive intelligence analysis, including evaluation of market threats and opportunities

  • Pricing Optics & Bid analysis

  • PBM Contracting best practices

  • Being a thought leader within the Health Plan Growth team, bringing greater knowledge to our larger team of consultants by virtue of regular analysis of market events, strategies, and other areas.

  • Liaising with ESI pricing, underwriting, and forecasting to ensure organizational alignment and maximization of financial performance, among other areas such as Sales, Supply Chain, etc.

  • Ability to understand new products and programs quickly, and be able to explain their value to both external and internal stakeholders

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must have 7+ years of PBM or Pharmacy consulting experience, with a specific focus pharmacy pricing, underwriting or business strategy

  • Demonstrated client facing experience, specifically in communication with VP and C-Suite level contacts

  • Intimate knowledge of PBM industry dynamics, including broker/consultant strategies, market trends and headwinds, competitive intelligence, and coalitions

  • Strong presentation skills with articulate, clear messaging, and an ability to explain complex challenges in digestible terms to a variety of internal and external stakeholders

  • Proven ability to make key decisions with sometimes limited or ambiguous information available

  • Ability to think creatively and develop novel solutions to often times complex problems

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills

  • Detail oriented and organized

  • History of strategic business decision making with proven results

  • Excellent PC skills specifically within Excel and PowerPoint

  • Superior analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Intense focus on client service and retention results.

  • Strong project management, and ability to operate efficiently and autonomously

  • Ability to travel overnight up to 15%.
