The Cigna Group Head of Global Benefits and Wellbeing in St. Louis, Missouri

As a member of the Total Rewards leadership team, the Head of Global Benefits and Wellbeing holds a strategic key role at The Cigna Group – both within the Human Resources organization and within the business. This role will lead the strategy, design and execution of the full range of Global Benefits and Well-Being offerings across the enterprise, bringing our Company’s mission to life for our employees.

This position requires knowledge and experience of employee benefits and wellness strategies and how they support the organization’s future growth. The ideal candidate will be a passionate benefits expert with extensive experience communicating program strategy to senior leaders and other internal and external stakeholders, strong leadership skills, and in-depth knowledge of and experience with plan compliance, benefits administration, and vendor management.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for the benefits program that supports the company’s mission, values, and business objectives.

  • Lead the design, implementation, communication, and administration of all employee benefits programs, including health and welfare plans, retirement plans, wellness programs, and other employee benefit programs.

  • Serve as strategic thought partner to broader enterprise; consulting with key leaders to inform critical decisions. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement innovative and cost-effective benefit solutions.

Program Management:

  • Oversee the management of benefits programs ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

  • Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of benefits programs and make recommendations for improvements based on industry trends and best practices.

  • Ensure the benefits programs are competitive and cost-effective while enhancing employee satisfaction and engagement.

Team Leadership:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing benefits team, fostering a culture of excellence and continuous improvement.

  • Collaborate with HR, finance, legal, and other departments to ensure cohesive benefits strategy and execution.

Vendor Management:

  • Manage relationships with external benefits providers and consultants, ensuring high-quality service and cost-effective solutions.

  • Negotiate contracts and oversee the performance of vendors to ensure optimal service delivery.

Communication and Education:

  • Develop and execute communication strategies to effectively inform employees about their benefits options and any changes to the programs.

  • Provide education and resources to help employees understand and maximize their benefits.

Data Analysis and Reporting:

  • Utilize data analytics to monitor benefits utilization, cost trends, and employee satisfaction.

  • Prepare and present reports to senior leadership on the status and performance of benefits programs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business or related discipline

  • 10+ years of HR experience; 5+ years of experience in Benefits / Well-Being

  • 5+ years of experience managing and leading team

  • Experience in vendor management

  • Ability to work in fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Outstanding, current knowledge of regulations, regulatory requirements, benefit policies and practices. Unquestioned integrity and ethics in the application of such standards.

  • Current knowledge of trends in Benefit functional best-practices.

  • Excellent at workload prioritization, resource management and project management.

  • Superior interpersonal, communication (both written and verbal), and presentation skills.

  • Maintains effective working relationships across the company, at the group, divisional, functional, and corporate levels.

If you will be working at home occasionally or permanently, the internet connection must be obtained through a cable broadband or fiber optic internet service provider with speeds of at least 10Mbps download/5Mbps upload.
